In the midst of the AI revolution in 2023, tech giants are vying to integrate AI into their future endeavors. Following Google and OpenAI’s lead, US-based chipmaker Intel has taken a significant step by announcing its ambitious plan to incorporate AI into every product it manufactures.

During Intel’s Q2 2023 earnings call, CEO Pat Gelsinger revealed the company’s intensified focus on AI-centric development in the days ahead. Gelsinger emphasized that AI enablement would be the cornerstone across consumer, developer, and enterprise efficiency use cases, with a particular emphasis on client-centered solutions. From edge platforms for retail, manufacturing, and industrial applications to enterprise data centers, Intel aims to infuse AI into every facet of its offerings.

The effects of this AI-first approach are imminent, with Intel planning to release its 14th generation Meteor Lake chipsets by year-end. These chipsets will be the company’s first to feature built-in neural processors dedicated to machine learning tasks.

The Meteor Lake series will be crafted using the cutting-edge Intel 4 process node, signifying a smaller and more efficient manufacturing process. This advancement is anticipated to result in enhanced compute performance, efficiency, and graphical capabilities. Additionally, the Meteor Lake chipsets will incorporate the groundbreaking Intel AI Boost, a dedicated AI engine.

This AI-centric focus follows two consecutive quarters of losses, but Intel has turned the tide, recording profits as indicated in its second-quarter earnings report.
